Rajouri,Srinagar,August 27 2014:-Electrical & Renewable Energy Engineering (ERE) team of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri has won Inter department Cricket Tournament which was played in Police Line Ground Rajouri.
Cricket Tournament was organised by the Directorate of Physical Education & Sports of BGSBU under the supervision of Mohammad Din, Deputy Director Physical Education & Sports and final match of the same was played between Electrical and Civil Engineers and Electrical Engineering team was adjudged as winner. The final match was witnessed by Registrar & Dean of Students Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary.
The ERE team first scored 135 in 20 overs. The prominent scorer were Squlain who scored 35 runs , Mohd Azurul 31 and Rahul contributed 25 runs and last 9 wickets in 20 over game Rahat took 3 wickets.
While chasing the target of 136 runs the B.Tech. Civil Engineering made 68 runs only in just 14 over and lost the match by 67 runs.
Prominently, the down fall occurred of the civil Engineering team when left armed off spinner Muneeb Muneer abruptly took 4 wickets in consecutive 4 balls and achieved rare feet in the match and was declared man of the match and also took six wicket by according 15 runs only .
The B.Tech. Civil Engineering team could not stand against the wrath of the bowler and succumbed to the pressure easily .During the Inter department Cricket Tournament 20 probable were selected for coaching camps prior to their participation in North Zone Inter University competition to form BGSB University Team.
The match was officiated by Mr.Vikram Jit singh ,Vaid Parkash Sharma , Surinder Singh,Mohd Abbass Bilvinder Singh, Mr.Zaheer Usman and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed all from Deptt.of Youth Services and Sports and Sports wing of BGSB University respectively .
Congratulating winners, Registrar Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary said that Prof I A Hamal Vice Chancellor has adopted visionary approach towards overall upliftment of the scholars and it is why students are being given opportunity to prove in various fields. He said that co-curricular activity is a part and parcel of general education because it tag scholars with society and promote unity among the people. Prof Hamal , Vice Chancellor, congratulated the participating teams and assured full support towards development of co-curricular activities.
