Srinagar, Sep 14, CNS: National Conference senior leader and MLC Qaiser Jamsheed Lone Monday submitted a resolution and one private members bill in Legislative Council for upcoming session in October, seeking amendments to Ranbir Penal Code on the beef ban issue and ban on manufacture and sale of liquor in J&K state.
The Resolution according to CNS reads that, “this House resolves that the manufacturing and sale on liquor be banned in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Bill: A Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir Ranbir Penal Code Svt. 1989 (1931.A.D) by omitting Section 298-A, 298-B, 298-C and 298-D.”
“Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and traditionally people have been sacrificing cattle on occasion of Eid ul Azha. Therefore it becomes obligatory to make amendments in laws which risk peace and harmony of state. Our party has made its stand clear and now Government should also come forward and support this resolution in the House, if they care for communal harmony in the State,” Lone said. (CNS)
