Baramulla, Sep 16, CNS: At least four people boarding a Tata Mobile had a narrow escape when the road near Khanpora area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district caved in, creating panic in the area.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that the road connecting Khanpora area in North Kashmir to main Baramulla town Tuesday late evening suddenly started sinking, that resulted in the formation of 50 feet deep gorge.
Reports said that during the time of incident, a Tata Mobile was plying on the road and it along the with four persons on board went deep down into the gorge, however, the timely action from police and locals saved their lives.
An official said that it was simply the displacement of the soil. “The caving in of the road disconnected Uri from Baramulla. The vehicular movement was disrupted and all efforts are on to connect cut-off areas. Work has been started to create an alternate road,” the official said. (CNS)
