Train services to be suspended on 26th & 27th September on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha: Railways


Kashmir trainNew Delhi, September 17,2015-CNS:-The Indian Railways has decided to suspend the train services on the valley’s Banihal-Baramulla train route on 26th and 27th of this month. Railways in a statement to CNS said that “keeping with the deliberations/decisions taken during the Meeting of Railway Authorities with Officials of Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir under the Charimanship of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir on 25.07.2015 on the matter of improvements in train services in the Kashmir Valley, the Railway has decided to temporarily suspend train services between Banihal-Baramulla apprehending untoward incidents on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha on 26th & 27th September 2015.”

          “In the light of the recent incidences of vandalism to sophisticated railway installations and obstruction to train crew in operating trains in the Valley by anti-social elements, Northern Railway appeals to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to discourage and prevent anti-social elements indulging in mindless vandalism and obstruction of rail operations  as the general public is put to great inconvenience causing a chain of detrimental conditions”, the statement further read.
