Srinagar, Sep 30, CNS:  Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Wednesday refuted the allegations leveled by Hurriyat G leader Syed Ali Geelani that ‘Cow Urine’ based medicine has been supplied to Kashmir based dispensaries.

Health Minister Lal Singh told CNS that the statement issued by Geelani is baseless and there is not an iota of truth in it. Geelani had claimed ‘Cow Urine’ based medicine ‘Sanjeewani Vati’ prepared by the Indian System of Medicine (ISM) has been supplied and freely distributed in Kashmir. He had alleged that this has been done on the behest of current Health Minister and BJP leader Lal Singh.

“I ask them to go and check the laboratories and dispensaries. There is no medicine that contains Cow Urine. What they are claiming is baseless and white lie,” Singh said adding that it is not in his blood to play with the religious sentiments of any community.

Responding to a question, Lal Singh said that those doctors who are not interested in performing their duties by heart will get severe punishment from the Ministry. “Tell these doctors that Health Ministry will either dispatch them to far flung areas or send them to Drass, Zanskar and Nobra. There is remedy for everything and I assure people that no doctor will be allowed to play with the lives of the patients,” he said.

Singh warned doctors to behave properly with patients and attendants. “I have received so many complaints from the patients and attendants that some selected doctors in particular hospital frequently misbehave with the attendants and patients. I advise them to mend their ways or be prepared for the action. We can’t fortify any hospital for sake of selected doctors that is meant for the general public,” he said. (CNS)
