Pulwama, February 3,20`7 CNS: Government Forces Friday arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant during a cordon and search operation in Nowpora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The arrest of the militant sparked violent protest while government forces including Police and Army resorted to aerial firing to keep the protesters at bay who according to witnesses resorted to massive stone-pelting.
Reports said a couple of protesters were reportedly injured during the clashes while locals alleged that during the search operation, army manhandled many people and even thrashed them.
Police sources told CNS that during the search operation a LeT militant was arrested and a Chinese pistol and 2 hand grenades were recovered from him. Sources identified the arrested militant as Manzoor Ahmed Ganaie of Nowpora Payeen. (CNS)
