While expressing dismay over the apathetic approach of authorities towards detainees, Huriyat said that cases against these detainees are processed under criminal law, while as it is against specific international laws & all ethics.
Huriyat spokesman on Friday said that like Muzafar Ahmad Rather, Dr Mohammad Qassim, Dr Mohammad Shafi Sharyati, Gh Qadir Bhat Noor Mohammad Tantray, Feroz Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Ayoub Dar, Mohammad Ayoub Mir, Fida Ahmad, Mohammad Hussain, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat (Khag), Mohammad Yousuf Pala, Abdul Waheed Naik, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmad Malla, Javed Ahmad Khan, Pervez Mir, Mohammad Maqbool, Sharief-ud-din, Giyas-ud-din, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, Abdul Hamid, Zakir Hussain, Hassan Ali, Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Syed Bhat, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Showkat Ahmad Khan and like other detainees are in no way terrorists, instead are brave hearts & pursuing a mission for resolution of Kashmir dispute. They are political prisoners and such respectable and can in no case be prosecuted in any court of law.
Spokesman said that Kashmir is internationally accepted political issue and United Nations while accepting its disputed & political status, has justified the struggle for its peaceful settlement. Spokesman said India being a member of UN is duty bound to follow all its rules, however instead is depicting its stubborn attitude and with its military might wishes to impose its writ. While ridiculing India, spokesman said that India is desperate to malign our sacred movement and portrays it otherwise.
Referring to history and independence movement of India against Britain, spokesman said that those who were part of that movement are regarded as freedom fighters, however while dealing in Jammu Kashmir they are not following the same principle. Spokesman while referring to Subhash Chander Bose & Bhagat Sigh, said that if they are treated as national heroes for India, then how same treatment could be denied for those people striving for resolution of Kashmir issue.
It is sheer injustice, said spokesman and in civilized society there is no room for such theories. Spokesman said that Muzafar Ahmad Wani & all those striving for resolution of Kashmir issue are not be victimized as they are pursuing just & sacred cause. It is unjustified to victimize these and awarding any punishment is not acceptable.
APHC in its appeal to Amnesty International & ICRC has asked to take serious notice of pitiable plight of those awarded with life and death sentence & impress India to release all these detainees. It is moral obligation for international community to fulfill its responsibility and use their influence in this regard. (CNS)
