Kupwara.February 4 2017.CNS: J&K Police is striving hard to minimize the crime against women including the domestic violences which is in upward trend across the country. Hon’ble CM J&K who is also Home Minister of the State has shown serious concern about the rise in crime against women and had desired to setup women cell at each district headquarter so as to mitigate the suffering of women. With a view to listen to the grievances of women folk, District Police Kupwara has setup a women cell in District Police Headquarters Complex Kupwara.
DIG North Kashmir, Shri Nitish Kumar-IPS today formally inaugurated the women cell in presence of SSP Kupwara, Shamsheer Hussain. While briefing the media person after the inaugurations, the DIG underscores the objectives of setting up of women cells. He said that in compliance to the directives of Hon’ble CM, women cells are being setup in each district to listen to the grievances of women and their redressal expeditiously. He said that the aggrieved women seldom visits the police stations to register their complaints as a result their grievances remains unattended. At women cell the aggrieved women can express their grievances with the female staff without any hesitation.
Later the DIG has also held a meeting with all supervisory officers and SHOs/IC PPs of the district. DIG impressed upon all the officers to focus on quality investigation, action against drug peddlers, neutralizing the active militants and better police public relations. DIG also complemented the officers for achieving good success against the drug peddlers/narcotic smugglers during last one month. He also directed the SSP for setting up of drug de-addiction centre at Kupwara in collaboration with district health authorities. He also desired the counselling/coaching facilities for aspirants of State Administrative Services/Civil Services examination at District headquarter Kupwara.
