Srinagar,February 6,2017 CNS: The members of All J&K Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) engaged under centrally sponsored Literacy Mission programme in the School Education Department held protest demonstration here in Srinagar city on Monday.
A large number of SBM employees including females, assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and started protest demonstration. These agitating employees were demanding their regularization and release of their wages. They said that about 7000 youth were engaged under SBM as district, block and Panchayat coordinators across the State under the scheme but they are denied their wages. They were imparting education to the elderly people and enhancing literacy rate in the State.
They further claimed that their services are being utilized for examination duty, academic support, elections and other surveys. “The Adult Education is the national concern and we should be provided justice,” said a protester Reyaz Ahmed to CNS.
The protesters said that this scheme has been extended by the Government of India up to 2017. Many people engaged under the scheme are going to be over aged. Therefore, they should be accommodated in Education department as most of them are PG, MA Bed or BA BEd. They are being paid Rs 6000 under district and block level post and Rs 2000 at Panchayat level. This amount should also be enhanced,” they demanded. (CNS)
