Srinagar,February 6,2017 CNS: The approval accorded to two ambitious tunnel projects viz Mughal Road tunnel and Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel according to locals of Vailoo Kokarnag will usher in a new era of prosperity in the State.

Expressing joy over these ambitious projects, the locals of Vailoo Kokarnag sia that theat the 4.5 km tunnel between Vailoo Kokernag and Singhpora Kishtwar will shorten the distance by 70 kms and will make this road operational round the year and all weather thus bringing respite to the people who could travel only for five to six months during winters.

“This is a landmark achievement and will benefit generations for which we are indeed thankful to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for her serious persuasion,” says Mohammad Akbar Khan, 75, of Vailoo who has been dreaming of this kind of connectivity since his early childhood.

The traders and business community of this area are also celebrating this achievement.

A young educated Muhammad Shafi says, “This road will bring more employment and economic benefits to the people who live on the both sides of this stretch because this road will be open and operational round the year and during winters when the Srinagar-Jammu highway remains mostly shut.”

The road project will benefit people of the state at large as previously there was only one option for connecting Kashmir before Mughal Road although Mughal road was also one of the historic decision ,but the recent decision of connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country  through this all weather round the year road is indeed a landmark decision which will have a positive impact on the tourism as well because these areas of Kokernag, Vailoo and Kishtwar have immense potential for the tourism and will bring in unlimited footfall for the Chenab valley and Vailoo, Kokernag, Achabal and Verinag areas resulting in development of economic chain in this whole area.
