Srinagar,February 7,2017 CNS: Four persons were killed and five others suffered injuries after a passenger vehicle met an accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Ramban district on Tuesday.
An official said that a vehicle on way to Jammu plunged into a 500ft gorge and landed at the banks of Bishlari nallah near Digdol – 12 kms from Ramban – resulting into on spot death of three passengers.
Police officials said that six people, including two children and a woman, were injured.
They were rushed to District Hospital Ramban where one of the injured succumbed, taking the death toll to four.
The woman’s condition remains critical while two minors are responding to the treatment.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock and grief over the death of four persons in the accident.
Mehbooba Mufti has also sympathized with those injured in the accident and directed the Ramban district administration to provide all support to them in their medical treatment.
The Chief Minister has directed the Traffic authorities to ensure strict maintenance of traffic rules on the National Highway and elsewhere so that such unfortunate incidents don’t take place.
Meanwhile a speedy vehicle mowed down a five-year-old boy in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Witnesses said that Aabid Ahmad Kawa, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Kawa, was critically injured after a speeding passenger vehicle hit him today morning. Kawa was rushed to a hospital in Sopore where he was declared dead on arrival. (CNS)
