Gun men loot cash from bank Police vehicles stoned after the loot

Shopian,February 15,2017 CNS: Unidentified gunmen Thursday struck once again and looted Rs three lakh from the branch of a Jammu Kashmir Bank at Turkawangum area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

      Local sources told news agency CNS that three unidentified gunmen barged into the JK Bank branch and before looting the cash, fired at least four bullets in air, thus creating panic in the area and the Bank staff. Sources added that unidentified gunmen hurriedly picked up the cash from the counter and fled from the spot.

     Sources added that police party that rushed to the spot shortly after the incident came under heavy stone-pelting attack. Confirming the incident SSP Tahir Saleem told CNS that police vehicles that rushed towards the spot of incident were attacked by youth. He said.

    He added that gun wielding gunmen entered into the bank, resorted to aerial firing and looted Rs 3 lakhs. “We have called a suspect for questioning. An FIR vide number 6/2017 under section 452, 492, 34 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act and 16 Unlawful Act has been registered and investigation has been taken up,” Tahir Saleem said. (CNS)
