Srinagar February,19.1017,CNS: Continuing its efforts against drug menace, Budgam police arrested 04 drug peddlers and recovered huge amount of contraband substances from their possession, today.

 Budgam Police received an information regarding transportation of narcotic drugs from Srinagar City towards Budgam town. Acting swiftly on the information, a naka was established near Sheikhpora petrol pump. During naka checking, a load carrier bearing registration number JK01D-2650 was intercepted. On checking 1000 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from the possession of Rashid Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh resident of Hazratbal, Srinagar and Mohammad Aslam Mir son of Sona-ul-lah Mir resident of Ichgam, Budgam. This consignment of drugs has actually been transported through a registered company to Parimpora Srinagar from Pitampore Delhi, however, challan reads item carried inside the packing as “Electric Motor” while as it contained codeine phosphate.

A case FIR number 33/17 under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation was taken up.

In second such incident, a police party of Police Station Chadoora arrested two drug peddlers namely Hamid Rather resident of Hasipora and Zubair Ahmad Dar resident of Dalipora Nagam. 1000 capsules of Spasmoproxyvan and codeine phosphate bottles were recovered from them. A case FIR number 07/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Chadoora and investigation was taken up.
