Srinagar, February 23,2017 CNS: Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhdeen while claiming the responsibility of Shopian attack has said that the attack was carried out in response to the remarks made by the Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat wherein he said that Forces in Kashmir will respond “ruthlessly” to protesters who try to disrupt anti-militancy operations.
At least three soldiers and a civilian were killed while five other soldiers were injured in Mullu Chitragam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district when militants ambushed a Cordon and Search Operation Party.
Hizb Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin told news agency CNS that at least five Army men were killed and 7 were injured in the daring attack carried out by a squad of the outfit. “The attacked was carried out in response to Army chief’s ‘vicious’ statement,” he said and added that Deputy Chief Saifullah Khalid and Field Commander Mehmood Ghaznavi congratulated the ‘Squad’ for carrying out the ‘successful’ attack.
