Srinagar, July 17, CNS: Authorities on Monday didn’t allow Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to participate in the funeral prayers of his uncle.

Mirwaiz is under house detention from past month. As he tried to defy his house arrest and came out from his Nigeen based residence, police personnel on guard detained him.

“It is shocking that authorities now didn’t allow us to mourn the death of our relatives. I had ventured outside to participate in the funeral prayers of my maternal uncle and close aide Tariq Ahmed Buch, but was disallowed and detained,” Mirwaiz said.

“I asked them (police officers) to place me under detention again after offering the funeral of my uncle. But they didn’t listen,” he said.
