Gunfight erupts in Shopian village in south Kashmir

Shopian,Aug 12 ,CNS:Gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Awneera village of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Saturday.

Sources said that 55 RR of Army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off Awneera village following inputs about the presence of militants there.

“As the search operation was intensified, militants hiding in the area opened fire, triggering an encounter,” said a source.

Reports said that three militants, including a top Hizb commander, are believed to be trapped in the village.
