Srinagar, Aug 12, CNS: In their continued skirmishes at border, India and Pakistan armies traded fire and mortal shells along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Saturday resulting in the death of a middle aged woman.

Official sources said that in the ‘unprovoked’ firing by Pakistani soldiers, a woman was killed while some of the residential houses suffered damages.

“Pakistani army fired small arms and mortars at around 5 on the Saturday morning. The Indian soldiers retaliated effectively, however, mortar shells fired by Pakistan army exploded near the house of one Muhammad Shabir at Gohlad Kalran village, killing his wife Raqia Bi,”  a police officer told CNS.

This year there have been 285 instances of ceasefire violation by the Pakistani forces. In 2016, the number was significantly less at 228. (CNS)
