Shopian gunfight ends with the killing of 3 militants and 2 army men, Hizb pays tributes to the slain trio

Bodies of two Army men being prepared to be flown to their native states.

Srinagar, August 13, 2017-CNS: Awneera Shopian gunfight came to an end after all the three militants were killed today. 2 army men were also killed while three including a captain were injured during the encounter. All the three militants who were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Awneera village of Shopian in south Kashmir belonged to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit, police said today.

The slain militants were identified as Umar Majid Sheikh, resident of Kathpora Yaripora;  Adil Malik, resident of Malikgund Shopian and Irfan ul Sheikh, resident of Malldaira Shopian.

An official said that three Ak-47 rifles were recovered from their possession.

                                 Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen while paying rich tributes to the three militants said that their sacrifice will act as a crucial step towards the attainment of freedom. In a telephonic statement to news agency CNS Hizb spokesperson Burhan-ud-Din said that all the three militants were valiant fighters who gave a stiff resistance to Indian forces. He said that 2 Army men got killed and several others were injured during the gunfight. He said that Hizb Supremo Syed Salahudin, Operational Chief Mohammad Saifullah and Mehmood Ghaznavi have paid rich tributes to the three militants. While quoting Syed Salahudin, the spokesman said that the three militants had an exemplary role in the field operations of the outfit. (CNS)
