Indian Air Force helicopter crashes near Arunachal’s Tawang area, 5 feared dead

Arunachal, Oct 6, CNS: An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter Mi 17 V5 crashed early today morning in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang area. At least five people – all of them Air Force personnel – are feared to have been killed in the crash.
One other personnel has been critically injured in the crash, which took place in a hilly terrain around 12 kilometers from the India-China border.
The helicopter chopper involved in today’s crash was carrying out an air maintenance mission when it crashed near Tawang at 6 am.
The Indian Air Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry into the crash in order to ascertain its cause. The helicopter crash comes just two days before the force marks its 85th Air Force Day this Sunday.
