Kulgam, Oct 17, CNS: Police on Tuesday used force to disperse the protesters at Soput Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district who had blocked the road demanding the release of two villagers arrested by police for their alleged links with militants.

Khushid Ahmed and Haziq Ahmed, both residents of Soput Qazigund according to locals are not affiliated with any militant organization. “They are innocent while one of them is a Cancer Patient,” the protesters who blocked Kulgam-Qazigund road for hours told news agency CNS.

Pertinently, both the youth were presented by police before Reporters on Monday during a press conference at Police Control Room Srinagar.

IGP Kashmir Zone, Munir Ahmed Khan in his presser said that Haziq and Khurshid were arrested while they were riding on a motor cycle. “A pistol with live ammunition was recovered from them,” IGP had said.

However, local protesters refuted the police claim and said that both the youth have been implicated in a false case.

As the protesters didn’t budge and disrupted traffic, police swung into action and lobbed tear-smoke shells to disperse them. The clashes continued for hours while the area observed a complete shutdown against the arrest of the duo. (CNS)
