Srinagar, Nov 13, CNS: Peer Bashir-ul-Haq’s book – ‘Shama-e-Aqeedat’ was released during a function organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at the Tagore Hall Srinagar.

The Sufi poetry book is divided into three sections comprising ‘Hamd’, ‘Naat’ and ‘Manqabat’.

Justice (retd) BA Kirmani, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said the book added new words to the Sufi lexicon. “I came across several new words that I had not heard of before in Sufi poetry,” he said.

Secretary JKAACL Dr. Aziz Hajini said the book was another addition to the long list of books on Sufi poetry that were divinely inspired. “This kind of poetry is not learned but it is written after divine inspiration,” he said.

Hajini said the Cultural Academy will continue its endeavours to publish similar books to keep the age-old Sufi traditions of the Valley alive.

Well known writer and journalist GR Hasrat Gadda was also present on the occasion along with other dignitarties. Gadda, who has a long association with the Sufi writer Peer Bashir-ul-Haq, played an instrumental role in getting the book published. (CNS)
