Kashmir avalanche: Three persons including a child rescued so far, three bodies recovered

Kupwara, Jan 6, CNS: The rescue operation team at Sadhna Top in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has managed to rescue a man alive while so far three bodies have been recovered.    

    On Friday, a vehicle was buried under an avalanche at Sadhna Top and accordingly joint rescue operation team comprising Army, Police and SDRF with the help of locals had started operation to locate the missing persons. At least eight passengers, including three women, went missing. The driver of vehicle JK09-A 3249, identified as Zahoor Ahmad, and an eight- year-old boy, Suliman , both residents of Karnah tehsil, were rescued immediately.   

    An official said that a man was rescued alive from under the snow while three bodies have been recovered so far.

The man rescued alive was reportedly identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat (50), son of Ali Mohammed Bhat, a resident of Kalmona, Kralpora area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

One of the three bodies recovered has been identified as that of Muneer Hussain Shah.

An official said that a search is on for the other missing passengers. (CNS)
