Pulwama: Government forces on Monday resorted to aerial firing after a vehicle failed to stop at a naka crossing in Tahab village of Pulwama in south Kashmir.
An official said that a vehicle was signaled to stop at a naka in Bongam Tahab for checking. “It didn’t stop following which forces fired some shots in the air to stop the vehicle,” he said.
Later, poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle, he said.
Meanwhile, Clashes erupted Pulwama while police used tear-smoke shells to disperse youth when a romour in the area spread that Army has Cordoned off Tahab village and a couple of militants have been trapped there.
Reports said that shopkeepers have lowered their shutters and majority of the shops are shut.
