Thousands attend funeral processions: Two local soldiers laid to rest in Kupwara

Kupwara, Feb 13, CNS: Thousands of people participated in the last rites of two local army soldiers in two different parts of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

    Subedar Muhammad Ashraf Mir and constable Farooq Ahmed were among the six soldiers killed in Sunjuwan militant attack.

    The body of Muhammad Ashraf Mir arrived at his native Maidanpora Lolab area where besides army and police officers, large number of people participated in his last rites.

    Those who participated in his last rites included army officers, ACR Kupwara and ASP Farooq Qaisar.

    Mir is survived by his two children, parents and wife. His 17 year old son was with him when Sunjuwan Army Station came under attack.

    Thousands of people also participated in the last rites of another slain soldier Farooq Ahmed at Haihama Kupwara. (CNS)
