Clashes erupt in Shopian


Shopian, Apr 5, CNS: At least 8 protesters sustained injuries, most of them by pellets after violent protests erupted in Shirmal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian on Thursday. A policeman was also injured in the clashes who was treated at district hospital Shopian.

The clashes erupted after protesters started raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans and pelted stones on forces deployed in the area.
Witnesses said that government forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and pellet firing injuring at least ten protesters.

The clashes were going on in the area when reports last came in.
