Srinagar: Shutdown is being observed across Kashmir valley today to mourn the civilian and militant killings in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district yesterday.

Shops and other business establishments are closed in the Valley while public transport is off the roads. Joint Resistance Leadership – an amalgam of separatist outfits – has called for shutdown today against the killing of a civilian and two militants in a gunfight in Drubgam village yesterday.

Restrictions have been imposed by the authorities in parts of Srinagar and in south Kashmir, while train services have been suspended there.

Forces have been deployed in south Kashmir and the downtown area of Srinagar to foil any protests by the separatists.

The two militants killed in Drubgam were identified as Sameer Tiger and Aaqib Khan while the civilian was identified as Shahid Ahmad.
