Rajouri: Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Monday met the family of Rifleman Aurangzeb, who was abducted and later killed by militants in Gusoo village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The Army Chief met the family of the deceased official at his residence in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, reported ANI news agency.
Aurangzeb was reportedly proceeding towards home when militants stopped the passenger cab he had boarded in Pulwama district and kidnapped him.
His bullet-ridden body was recovered on June 14.
Aurangzeb belonged to 44 Rashtriya Rifles, and was posted in Shopian district. He was reportedly very close to Major Shukla who was critically injured in a gunfight with militants in Drubgam village. Hizb commander Sameer Tiger was killed with an associate in the gunfight.
