Encounter breaks out in south Kashmir’s Anantnag

Srinagar,June 22.CNS: A gunfight is underway between militants and the government forces in Srigufwara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
An official said that an exchange of fire is going on between militants and the forces in Anantnag.

He said that militants opened fire on the forces which had launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area, triggering a gunfight.
At least two militants are believed to be trapped inside the cordon, said the official

Reports said that  A lady and her husband were injured aft3e being hit with bullets near encounter site in Sirigufwara Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District.

Locals told  that they were hit by bullets during the initial exchange if gunfire.

They both were shifted to District hospital in Islamabad from where they have been referred to Srinagar for treatment, hospital officials told

Hospital officials identified them as Rafiqa Banoo who has sustained a Hand injury and Mohammed Yusuf Rather who has sustained a leg injury.
