Srinagar,June 23 CNS: MGNREGA Employees Association Jammu and Kashmir Saturday elected a new provincial body.
A Spokesperson said that during the provincial meeting, Syed Jaffar Suliman was elected as the new chairman 8 other Provincial members were also elected which included Sajad Ahmed, Arshid Ahmed, Jan Muhammad, Ajaz Ahmed, Bilal Ahmed Ganderbali, Bilal Ahmed, Sabzar Ahmed and Firdous Ahmed.
During the meeting the newly elected Chairman Syed Jaffar Suliman urged upon the government to address their grievances without any delay. He said attempts are being made to curb the power and influence of employees working with the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
“Though Government had promised that it will address all our issues when we observed strike in 2017, but till date nothing has been done. We appeal Governor administration to look into our demands and fulfill them,” Suliman said.
He said that the current in-charge Secretary to Government has reversed the earlier circular issued five years back by the then Commissioner/Secretary to Government. The order should be revoked by the Department for they fear this new diktat will be another source for greasing the palms of their Block and District Officers.
