Nazir Itoo restored the glory of fading JK Cements Ltd

Srinagar,June 25 CNS: After BJP parted ways with PDP, the performance of political appointee Vice Chairmen of different Public Sector Undertakings who have resigned is being evaluated by Governor Administration. Sources said that after the resignation of Vice Chairman JK Cements Private Limited, it has now come to fore that this Corporation has witnessed a growth of Rs 114 Crore revenue from past five years- a big feet for the outgoing VC Engineer Nazir Ahmed Itoo.

“We are evaluating the performances of every VC who looked after different Corporations. The J&K Cements Ltd that faced consistent losses have started emerging as the largest profitable Corporation,” said an official wishing anonymity.

He said the Corporation employees worked hard to put JK Cements on track under the charge of Nazir Ahmed Itoo. “It was Nazir Ahmed Itoo who had asked Government departments and other PSUs like J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to purchase cement from J&K Cements. It was a profitable decision and improved the condition of the Corporation,” he said.

Pertinently, before Itoo assumed the charge a Rs 100 crore fraud was unearthed in J&K Cements Limited. J&K Cements had been pushed to such a situation where it was in complete mess and faced the imminent closure. However, due to hard efforts of Nazir Ahmed Itoo and employees, this credibility and glory of this Corporation was restored.

Vice Chairman Nazir Ahmad Yatoo who is himself a trained Civil Engineer played a great role.

Jammu & Kashmir Cements Ltd. was incorporated as fully owned Government Company way back in December, 1974. The installation work for 600 tonnes per day capacity dry process Plant, Rotary horizontal Kiln, started at Khrew and since then it has been manufacturing cement despite private companies in fray.

It was on the insistence of Nazir Ahmed Itoo, that Jammu and Kashmir Government asked all the government departments, state owned corporations and autonomous bodies to purchase cement from JK Cements only in all such cases where cement is supplied or can be supplied departmentally to the executing agency or the contractors.

Nazir Ahmed Itoo also played a key role in bringing down pollution level, an issue that locals always complained about.
