A two-hour book reading session was organized yesterday at Government Degree College for women Anantnag in which recently released book titled “Water, Polity and Kashmir” authored by Rao Farman Ali was reviewed. The session was chaired by Prof. A. G Mir Chairman SKCS. In the book, Rao Farman talks extensively about the present and upcoming environmental challenges and water difficulties of south Asia. The issues raised in the book were discussed by various scholars and the members of Civil Society who were present at the event.
During the event, people from across the political lines urged for the greater control and share of waters that flow towards the other side of LoC.
The book has been recently released in University of Kashmir at Centre of Central Asian Studies.
The scholars at the reading session appreciated the style of the book and the way views are put forward by the author.
Rao Farman is a prolific writer who has authored many other books also.
The book is generated by Institute of Public Policy Research and Development and published by Gulshan Books Srinagar.
The event was also participated by Rashid Ahmad Ex. Director IPPRD, Prof. M A Malik, Prof. GM Hajam, Prof. Nisar Hussain, Prof. Ashiq Hussain, Prof. Hashim Iqbal, Bashir Ahmad Shah District president SKCS, Atta Mohammad Mir, Bashir Indrabi, S. Tariq. Besides these,some students and other Luminaries were also the part of book reading session.
