Srinagar, July 4, CNS: In a shameful act, former National Health Mission Director Dr Mohan Singh Wednesday allegedly barged into the meeting Hall and dragged the incumbent Director out from the room. Both the Health officials came to blows while other officials called police to diffuse the situation.

Health and Education Department appointed Dr Yashpal Sharma as NHM Mission Director while previous Director Dr Mohan Singh who was attached approached the court terming his removal as illegal and unjustified.

“Singh not only emerged in the NHM office located at Chanapora today, but he also appeared yesterday, asking the incumbent Director to vacate the chair. Today Singh crossed the limits and used abusive language,” said a group of employees who witnessed whole incident.

Singh told CNS that his appointment as Mission Director has come through a formal Cabinet order and even court has upheld the order of the Cabinet. “The appointment of Dr Yashpal Sharma is illegal,” he said.

On the other hand, Dr Yashpal Sharma said that it was not proper on part of Singh to emerge in meeting hall and pull him from the chair. “If court has decided in his favour, he should appear before administrative secretary. Instead he arrived in my office and threatened me of dire consequences. Yesterday, Singh arrived in office in my absence and locked all the computers,” Sharma said.

Employees said that Singh manhandled Sharma, a charge refuted by Dr Mohan Singh. Police rushed to spot to diffuse the situation. Sharma said he will follow the direction that will come from the top. “I will do my duty and am ready to serve anywhere. But the hooliganism is unacceptable,” he said.

SDPO Sadar, Fahad Tak told CNS that none of the official filed any complaint. “We only diffused the situation,” he said. (CNS)
