Army conducts cricket tournament at agsi


Udhampur,Jammu,23 August,2018-CNS:-With an aim to bring in communal harmony and inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the youth of Reasi District a Cricket Tournament was held from 12 to 23 Aug 2018 at Agsi of Reasi district, by the Bagga based Army unit under the aegis of Reasi based Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform). The event assisted the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase the hidden talent of local populace especially the youth.

16 teams from various villages of far flung and remote areas of Reasi district participated in the tournament on league cum knock-out basis. MCC, Bagga was eventually adjudged the champion team after beating BBCC, Sungri, in a keenly contested match on 23 August 2018. Cricket being one of the most popular sport amongst youth of Jammu and Kashmir, the event witnessed an over whelming response both in participation and spectators. Over 250 locals turned up to witness the match daily.

All the participating team members displayed excellent sportsman spirit during the conduct of the tournament. The Sarpanch and elders of the village Agsi expressed their gratitude towards the Army in its endeavors to motivate the youth of the region and bring in bonhomie. They have expressed their desire for more such events to be organised to motivate the youth for remaining physically fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
