Srinagar,05 September 2018-CNS:-While the Teacher’s Day will be celebrated across schools in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country on September 5, it is unfortunate that thousands of teachers in the state, hired under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), have been forced to go on an indefinite strike to protest against the government for adopting “delaying” tactics in implementing benefits of the 7th pay commission.
These teachers are at war path with the state government from the past several months for the government’s decision not to include them in the benefits of 7th pay commission. Though the government constituted several committees to look for measures to address their issues, nothing has finalised till now, which has forced them to go on imitational path. Implementation of 7th pay commission is legitimate and legal right of SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters.
It is high time that the government takes keen interest to resolve the issue of these teachers, as a teacher not only has a significant role in the making of an individual human being, but in the making of a society, a nation and the world at large.
A teacher’s job becomes mainly to inspire and enhance an individual as a human being, which has always been the main task. Hundreds of SSA teacher sitting on hunger strike on Teacher’s Day won’t look good and the government must start immediate negotiations with them
After our parents, the people who most significantly impact our lives – and a life-long love or dislike for a particular subject – are our teachers. Teachers’ Day is an occasion to celebrate this unique role that gives adults the power to shape young minds and thereby the future of a nation. Teacher imparts good value in children and turn them into responsible citizens.
