A woman was removed from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Allahabad on Sunday, 16 December, for waving a black flag during his speech. In a video that surfaced on social media, the woman, named Rama Yadav, is seen being attacked by BJP supporters after raising anti-Modi slogans during the prime minister’s speech in Andawa.
The police themselves can be seen hitting and slapping Yadav while removing her from the venue.
Yadav is a student at the Allahabad University and had earlier participated in a protest against Amit Shah’s rally in Allahabad in July 2018. She was sent to 14-day judicial custody along with two others for blocking Shah’s convoy. She is also said to be involved with the Samajwadi Party.
The video went viral on social media, with Twitterati condemning the act and calling it a shame, considering BJP’s ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao’ campaign.
At the rally, the prime minister had inaugurated various development projects to clean the Ganges and ghats ahead of the Kumbh Mela scheduled to begin January 2019.
