Electoral Operators demand regularization of services
Srinagar, Jan 30,Saleem, CNS: Electoral Roll Management System (ERMS) Operators Wednesday staged a protest against the verbal order of Chief Electoral Officer to wind up the ERMS due to lack of funds.
Scores of operators assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and appealed higher authorities to do justice to them as they are the key for holding Assembly and Parliament Elections.
“We are working like permanent employees but government didn’t recognize our services that we render during elections,” they said.
The protesting ERMS said that they are working in all elections of DC offices of Jammu and Kashmir from 2013 and were appointed through Empanelled Company IIPS International Institute of Professional Studies Srinagar under the monthly remuneration of Rs 6,000 per month till date.
They said that through a Video Conference Chief Electoral Officer Jammu Kashmir Shalindar Kumar informed verbally that they are going to wind up the ERMS Operators as they don’t have much funds. “The Department has also appointed DCC District Call Centre in all districts under a handsome monthly remuneration but we ERMS Operators are working from last six years on meagre salary,” they added.
“We are on strike with All J&K Field Employees Association Election Department for two days. If our services are not regularized, we will be left with no option but to hit roads on daily basis,” they told CNS.(CNS)
