Gunfight rages in south Kashmir’s Kulgam; Internet suspended

A gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces in Kellam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

Ad per reports, a joint team of army’s 9RR, SOG Kulgam and CRPF launched a cordon & search operation in Kellam during early hours on Sunday.

They said the militants hiding in a house opened fire on the forces during thr searches, triggering a gunfight.

A source said two to three militants including a top commander are believed to be trapped inside the house.

The firing was going on from both sides when this report was being filed.

Meanwhile, Internet has been suspended in the entire district.

Clashes broke out between the protesters and the government forces near the site of a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

Witnesses said that the youth took to streets and hurled stones and snowballs at the forces to disrupt the operation in Kellam area of the district.
