2 years: Govt provided Rs 321.948 crores as cash assistance to Migrant Pandits

Srinagar, May 28, CNS: Government Saturday said that it has incurred an expenditure of Rs 321.948 crores for providing cash assistance to Kashmiri migrant pundits and also an amount of Rs 18.76 crores have been spent on free ration to these migrants from past two years.
Jammu and Kashmir Relief and Rehabilitation Minister in response to a query raised by legislator Rasheed Engineer informed Legislative Assembly that Kashmiri Migrants under relief category are presently being provided monthly cash assistance of Rs 2500 per person per month subject to a maximum of Rs 10,000 per family per month.
“Under Prime Minister’s Package for the Kashmiri Migrant Pandits, besides constructing transit accommodation, Rs 7.5 lakh’s were provided to each Pandit for construction of a house,” the Minister said adding that 6000 government jobs for unemployed Pandits are approved under this package.
The Government informed that two families have already returned back to their native places in Kashmir Valley and Rs 12.50 lakhs each have been provided to them for construction of houses. “Government of India has now conveyed approval for construction of additional 6000 transit accommodations in Kashmir Valley for allotment to the Kashmiri Migrants to whom state government jobs have been provided and also has conveyed approval to the creation of 3000 additional posts for Kashmiri Migrant youth with funding from Government of India,” the Minister said adding that process for creation of these 3000 additional posts is underway.
