‘Ashai was one of the great sons of soil: Yasin Malik

Yasin-Malik_1327Srinagar, Feb 19, CNS: Martyr Doctor Farooq Ahmad Ashai was one of the great sons of soil who sacrificed his life for the just cause of freedom and became an immortal page of our history. Talks between India and Pakistan are nothing but a time consuming process and Kashmiris pin no hopes on these.

This was stated by chairman Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik while addressing a meeting held on the occasion of martyrdom day of Shaheed Doctor Farooq Ahmad Ashai said that Ashai was laid his precious life for the sacred Kashmir cause. The meeting was attended by JKLF leaders and activists in large numbers and was addressed by many speakers. While paying rich tributes to martyr Doctor Farooq Ashai, Yasin Malik said that doctor Ashai was a great soul who throughout his life stood for the cause of freedom and justice. He remained steadfast while fighting for the human rights of Kashmiris and as a doctor always cared for his patients. Yasin Malik said that the brutal way in which doctor sahib was martyred by Indian forces still remains a glaring proof of Indian oppression in Jammu Kashmir.

While referring to recent warmth in indo/ Pak relations and start of fresh dialogue process between these two countries ,Yasin Malik said that it is our firm belief that all issues and disputes can only be solved through peaceful and meaningful talks and negotiations. But for the success of this process the parties involved should have a clear vision and mindset to resolve disputes that remain a threat to peace and stability. He said that how can these talks succeed or termed as serious when Indian government is publicly propagating that it will never talk on any contentious issues.

Yasin Malik said that when anyone is serious during a process, he tries to make public opinion favorable for that but here in this case Indian government is publicly propagating that it will never talk on issue and disputes and has rather hardened its stand on disputed issues . This is making the whole process of negotiations and warmth confusing and doubtful. Yasin Malik said that this non seriousness clearly shows that the process of dialogue between India and Pakistan is merely a process to consume time and talks for the sake of talks can never resolve any issues or disputes.

Yasin Malik said that Kashmiris have always supported talks and negations but the history of this process betweenIndia and Pakistan has actually snatched away this hope and today Kashmiri have no expectations from this process of bilateral talks between India and Pakistan.

Yasin Malik said that Jammu Kashmir issue/ dispute remains the main hurdle on the way of peace and prosperity and if India and Pakistan seriously want to tread the path of peace, stability and progress, they will have to accept the owner status of Kashmiris, include them in the dialogue process as a prime party and make endeavors to resolve this dispute according to the aspirations and sacrifices of people of Jammu Kashmir.

A special prayers meeting for Shaheed Doctor Farooq Ashai and other Kashmiri martyrs was held at the end of the meeting. (CNS)
