J&K Police water sports and Daredevil team start Dal cleaning drive

Srinagar,31 October 2014(CNS):-The water sports and Daredevil team of Jammu and Kashmir police today started a cleaning drive in Kashmir’s famed Dal Lake and its embankments to clean it from the debris and wastes left away by floods that wreaked havoc in the valley during the month of September this year.
The cleaning drive was started from Nehru Park and continued with the surroundings of the lake including shikarah ghats, island parks in Dal waters, pathways and its embankments. The drive was launched to maintain the beauty, aesthetics, and environment of the lake which was disturbed by the floods that left behind trail of debris in the lake. The sportsmen from both the team participated actively in the cleaning drive of the lake on directions from ADGP Armed Mr S M Sahai. Manually driven shikaras, Canoe and Kayak boats were used in the day long cleaning drive to clean the lake of pollutants.
The efforts of both the teams were highly appreciated by the tourists, inhabitants of the lake and other members from the civil society.
