Snowfall aftermath: 13 residential houses collapsed, 12 suffered partial damage

advance-restoration-snow-collapsed-roof-we-fixed-itSrinagar, March 17, CNS: The continuous downpour and snowfall all across Kashmir have resulted in collapsing of 13 residential houses on Tuesday morning. Nine houses collapsed in North Kashmir while in Central Kashmir’s Chadora town four houses were damaged resulted in the injuries of two persons.

    Eyewitnesses told CNS that at least 8 houses were completely collapsed after a huge portion of land caved in due to heavy downpour and snowfall in Laridora hamlet of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.  Fifteen families residing in these houses have become homeless while district administration officials who rushed to spot to assess the damage assured all possible help to the affected families.

    Reports said that besides the complete collapse of these 8 houses, around 12 houses suffered partial damage in the locality.

    “We have provided blankets and other necessary items to the affected families. We will rehabilitate them all while Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has directed the officials to help them in every possible way,” an official told CNS.

    Meanwhile, two persons were injured when at least four houses were collapsed in Dharmbagh Kralapora area of Central Kashmir’s Chadoora town in District Budgam. Confirming the incident, a police official said that residential houses of Abdul Ahad Rather, Bashir Ahmed, Bashir Lawdori and Ali Muhammad Ganaie were collapsed due to snowfall,” he said but added no one was hurt during the mishap.

     At Shah Gund Sonawari in District Bandipora the house of Abdul Rahim Dar collapsed leaving the 8 member family homeless. (CNS)
