SP Higher Secondary Wins Football Tourney ,Goodwill Cricket Tourney concludes

Srinagar,August 29,2014(CNS);-The District Youth Services & Sports Officer Srinagar gave away awards to the players of winning team of U/19 Football Tourney at an impressive function organized at Anjum Ground here.  16 teams comprised of budding school going football players of 16 Educational Institutions of the District Srinagar took part in the tournament. The played matched of the tournament were witnessed by huge gatherings of the nearby areas.  Tournament was organized by Youth Services & Sports Department. In the two semi-finals of the tourney SP Hr Sec School defeated Burn Hall School team and Dr. AGM’s School defeated Hr. Sec School Shalimar. The final of the tourney was played between the budding school players of SP Hr Sec School & Dr. AGM’s School at Anjum Ground Qamarwari. From the beginning of the match players of SP School played a splendid football. The magnificent performance of the SP School team mates defeated Dr AGM’s School team by 3-1.

Meanwhile the goodwill official cricket series of the Employees of J&K Youth Services & Sports Department and the Officials from the Madhya Pradesh resulted in a draw. Only two of the three scheduled matches could be played due to wet weather conditions in the valley. The inaugural match of the series was played at SP College Cricket Ground; MP team won the match by 8 runs. Final match of the series was won by host J&K Team by 28 runs. So the tournament resulted in a draw. The concluding match was played at University Of Kashmir Ground. The visiting team mates were thankful to the organizers especially Director General Navin Agarwal IPS for adequate boarding and lodging facilities and wished that such friendly tournaments should be organized in future as well. Later officials of the Department of YSS presented a memento to the officials from MP at a see off function.
