Srinagar, Apr 6, CNS: National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Saturday demanded fair and time bound inquiry into the Srinagar Central Jail incident.

Sagar told news agency CNS that such an attitude from police towards local prisoners is not only condemnable but shameful as well.

“How can cops shower pellets on unarmed prisoners and inflict injuries upon them. Those who showered pellets should be identified and punished,” he said.

Sagar said that Srinagar Central Jail incident has brought a disrepute to administration and it proved that even prisoners in jails are unsafe in Kashmir.

He also demanded the revocation of ban on highway movement and said such diktats are only aimed at to harass common people of Kashmir. “The ban on the civilian movement on highway on Sunday and Wednesday will add hardships and it will further alienate the people,” Sagar said.
